Have you attempted more than one card? This would confirm if the fault is with a particular customers card.
Reboot the card terminal by holding down the yellow and full stop buttons on the terminal keypad at the same time.
Hold down the green button to power the terminal back on.
Attempted a transaction for 1p to test.
